Here's the plan
Spent some time in my lunch today looking on-line for
replacement fork stanchions.
I can get 2nd hand forks (with light pitting) around the
dust seals for around £100. I can get pattern parts from #Wemoto for £123 each
(plus postage) or I can get my existing stanchions hard chromed &
guaranteed for 12 months (straightened if required) for £145 for the pair from #Dynasurf.
I think I’m going to go for the re-chromed option. I know I
can get them from eBay cheaper but what’s to say the ‘light pitting’ is not
going to damage the oil seal (why my existing ones are leaking) or just rust
where the buyer has cleaned them up. For all I know, they may have used
Scotchbrite which is abrasive & could damage further an already iffy
surface.
